In 2009 her then 18-month old daughter inspired Swati’s Bollywood dance journey in the United States. Starting out with dance instruction for kids, Swati executed her vision for broader community engagement at a fundraiser for In The Company of Horses, a therapeutic horseback riding program. Forty-four individuals (including staff, volunteers, parents, and the students with special needs) and four horses participated in the Bollywood dance routine she choreographed. You can read about it here: The First Community Project! “Mauja hi Mauja!”.
This is how Community Bollywood Dance Project was born! Since then Swati has turned her passion for dance and community into a series of experiential learning programs across the Greater Philadelphia region.
